What does it mean to be an alpha? Well, let's start with what an Alpha is not. An alpha is not a bully, an alpha can be violent, but only to protect his pack. The Alpha's love and compassion for the weaker, smaller, or elderly of the pack is what drives her/him. An alpha is a protector of her/his flock.
There is a clear dichotomy in being an alpha. The phrase "peaceful warrior" is used a lot at Lightning Kicks, as a matter of fact, the phrase is on most of our BJJ gis.
As a senior member of Lightning Kicks, you are expected to mentor, encourage, and empower all your juniors. Lightning Kicks juniors are expected to respect and honor their seniors and higher ranking students.
A true alpha does not need to walk around with a puffed out chest putting on a show like a peacock. An alpha's confidence comes from the love and loyalty they have from and for their pack.
Be a PEACEFUL WARRIOR.
