Jeremy Horn

Jeremy is one of the most experienced fighters in MMA and one of the last active few who have been in the sport since the beginning. He has over 130 fights and more wins than anyone in the UFC. He has been fighting so long that some have not been recorded. He has beaten two former UFC champions, Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell. Jeremy is the last fighter to go to a decision against Anderson Silva, who is considered the pound for pound best fighter in the world. Jeremy is not only a fighter but one of the best trainers in the world. He has helped train four UFC champions (Pat Miletich, Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, and Tim Silvia). There are still many other notable fighters that credit Horn's training and coaching to their success. Five of his fighters have been featured in Spike's "the Ultimate Fighter" show.

Amir Khillah

Master Amir was introduced to the world of martial arts as a child in Egypt where he lived for six years. Master Amir extensively trained in Taekwondo, Hapkido, TangSooDo, boxing, and various other styles of martial arts. He is a former fighter for the H.I.T. Squad (Hughes Intensive Training), and is currently a full-time fighter for Elite Performance under the guidance of the legendary Jeremy Horn. Master Amir has National and International competition experience, including: State Championships (Gold medalist), National Championships, Olympic Training Center athlete, Pan-Am Cup (Silver medalist), World University Games, and Olympic Trials, 2004 U.S. National Collegiate National Champion (welter weight), and ADCC (grappling) Regional 169 lb advanced Champion. He holds B.S. in Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Community Health Education and a Masters in Sports Studies from Western Michigan University. Khillah is also a certified law enforcement defensive tactics instructor from the International Police Defensive Tactics Institute.

Tim Herrmann

Tim Herrmann has been a part of Lightning Kicks since September 2007. He first provided strength training to Master Amir to further his goal of becoming a professional Mixed Martial Artist. He has since trained a number of the team members and aided in conditioning the MMA and fitness classes

Herrmann oversees the daily operation of Western Michigan Universities Strength and Conditioning program. He specifically develops and implements strength, speed and conditioning programs for men's and women's basketball, volleyball, hockey and tennis.

Herrmann has been a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist since 2000 and is also a USA Weightlifting certified sports performance coach. Herrmann holds a B.S. in Exercise Science (2000) and has an M.S. in Exercise Physiology (2002) from Western Michigan University.

Justin Knight, M.D.

Knight is usually the first on the seen when an injury occurs. Knight wears many hats serving not only as the Lightning Kicks team physician, but also the Rumble in the Zoo physician/cut man, and also a Lightning Kicks fighter.

Kelvine Echols 

Echols has competed at a very elite level in Olympic Taekwondo and has many titles, including the Michigan State Championship. Echols is a student at Western Michigan University majoring in Occupational Therapy. Echols helps guide the Taekwondo students at Lightning Kicks. Echols is currently a 3rd degree black belt instructor and is working toward his masterships.

Beryl Brown

Mr. Brown teaches the family class on Saturdays as well as adult and children Taekwondo during the week, he is extremely well liked. Mr. Brown is currently a black belt instructor and is working towards his mastership.

Ivan Wolshlager

Ivan has been training with Lightning Kicks since 2003. Since that time he has become a Deputy Black Belt in Taekwondo and has completed level one of the U.S. Army Combatives training. Wolshlager has served a tour in Iraq as part of the U.S. Army and is currently pursuing his professional mixed martial arts career.

Chad Vanderklok

Mr. Vanderklok is a law enforcement ground-fighting instructor. He is the director of our Mixed Martial Arts program.

TJ Kinney

TJ Kinney has trained with Lightning Kicks since 2007 and has represented the school in numerous Mixed Martial Arts and grappling events. His focus on the concepts and techniques applied in fighting is an asset when helping members of the competition team develop winning strategies. His drive to improve and eventually compete at the sport's highest level is equaled only by his desire and willingness to help his teammates accomplish their own goals. Kinney has served a tour in the U.S. Army as part of operation Iraqi Freedom, he is currently pursuing his professional mixed martial arts career.

James Carrow (BJJ)

James is a one-stripe Purple Belt under Gracie Black Belt Professor Clint Crabtree. He has trained BJJ at Grand Rapids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a Gracie affiliate, for nearly fiver years. In addition to his BJJ career, James is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter and wrestling coach with an extensive wrestling background. He was also a U.S. Navy rescue swimmer. James has a B.S. in Education, Biology and Chemistry from Aquinas and currently teaches Chemistry at Portage Central High School.

Timothy Loso

Mr. Loso is an experienced law enforcement officer and is certified in multiple subject control and firearms disciplines. He trains civilians as well as law enforcement personnel in defensive tactics/self-defense. Loso is also a certified defensive tactics instructor from the International Police Defensive Tactics Institute.
