Dr.
Joseph Haake, team doctor
Joe was
born and raised in the Midwestern farming community of Hoyleton,
Illinois. He was raised in a Lutheran household and attended a
small parochial grade school where he was active in all
available scholarly and athletic events. He attended high school
in Nashville, IL and participated in track and cross country.
Joe then progressed to undergraduate studies in Biological
Sciences and Chemistry at SIU in Carbondale, IL. An interest in
medicine developed as he obtained his Emergency Medical
Technician license and worked for 2 EMS providers simultaneously
in Southern Illinois. He then matriculated into medical school
with an interest in EMS and sports medicine. Dr. Joe joined Team
Lightning Kicks as soon as he arrived in Kalamazoo and has
remained active and dedicated to his team ever since that time,
including providing medical coverage as well as competing in MMA
events. |

Herrmann, team strength and
conditioning coach
Head strength and conditioning coach at
Western Michigan University and Lightning Kicks. Gives our
fighters a very unique and effective edge.

Master AMIR KHILLAH
Master Amir has National and International competition experience, including: State Championships (Gold medalist), National Championships, Olympic Training Center athlete, Pan-Am Cup (Silver medalist), World University Games, and Olympic Trials. Master Amir is also the 2004
U.S. National Collegiate National Champion (welter weight). Master Amir holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, and Community Health Education and
a Masters in Sports Studies from Western Michigan University. Master Amir was introduced to the world of Martial Arts as a child in Egypt where he lived for six years. Master Amir trained in various styles of
Taekwondo, Hapkido, TangSooDo, boxing, and various other styles,
a former fighter for the H.I.T. Squad (Hughes
Intensive Training), and is currently a full time fighter
for Elite
Performance under the tutelage of the legendary Jeremy Horn.

MR. TJ Kinney
and MR. CHAD
VANDERKLOK (not pictured)
(MMA)
TJ is a U.S. Army Soldier and has had a wealth of cage
experience. In addition to his well-rounded MMA skills, Kinney
comes from a strong wrestling foundation and is working on his
rank in TKD. Mr. Vanderklok is a law enforcement ground fighting instructor.
He is the director of the our Mixed Martial Arts program.

TIMOTHY LOSO
(Hapkido)
Mr. Loso is an experienced law enforcement officer. He trains civilians as well as law enforcement personnel in defensive tactics/self-defense.

Mr. BERYL BROWN
(Taekwondo)
Mr. Brown teaches the family class on Saturdays, he is extremely well liked. Mr. Brown is currently an assistant instructor and is working on his full Instructorship.

Specializes in close quarters hand-to-hand and runs a high-energy technical class.

ECHOLS
(Taekwondo)
Has competed at a very elite level in Olympic
Taekwondo, has many titles including the Michigan State
Championship.

(Taekwondo)
Coordinates the sport taekwondo program and has
multiple years of competition experience. Mr. Mulili also
teaches taekwondo at our offsite locations (public schools). |

Directs the Lightning Kicks curriculum and
Instructor training at Lightning Kicks. |

Mrs. MARIA BRENNEN
(Taekwondo)
Teaches the KVCC taekwondo class. Taekwondo and
Lightning Kicks is a family affair for her, as her eldest soon,
Conor, is also a black belt and assists with the children's
classes.
