Amir is the owner of Lightning Kicks Martial Arts Academy, head instructor, and retired professional Mixed Marital Arts (MMA) fighter. He is a Certified International Police Defensive Tactics Institute Instructor and Certified United States Army Combatives Instructor (Level II). Amir holds a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Masters degree in Coaching from Western Michigan University.
Aside from coaching and mentoring students at Lightning Kicks and leading various volunteer and community projects, Amir is also a Police Academy Subject Control Instructor at KVCC and Instructor at Western Michigan University for "Introduction to Mixed Martial Arts" (PEGN 175). He is also the founder of the Western Michigan University Mixed Martial Arts Club and a Kalamazoo Public Schools Martial Arts Instructor for Derek Jeter's Turn 2 Program.
Amir is a 1st degree black belt in TangSooDo, 2nd degree black belt in Hapkido, 5th degree black belt in Taekwondo, and purple belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu. He has an extensive competitive background in these various martial art forms, including: -1997 Pan Am Cup Silver Medalist

He lives in Kalamazoo with his wife, Sherri Khillah, and their two sons,Sebastian and Wesley.
